Mozilla has announced that Release Candidate 1 (RC 1) of Firefox 2 is now available for download.

The RC1 version has some new features, including a new theme that updates Firefox’s familiar interface; built in phishing protection; enhanced search engine management and search suggestions for Google, Yahoo!, and Answers.com; improved tab browsing, which includes the ability to re-open recently closed tabs; plus the ability to resume from where the user left-off after a system crash or browser restart.

Additionally, the new version offers better support for previewing and subscribing to Web feeds, and inline spell checking in Web forms.

Firefox 2 RC1 can be downloaded for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux in more than 40 languages.
