Firefox 2 Release Candidate 1 Out

Mozilla has announced that Release Candidate 1 (RC 1) of Firefox 2 is now available for download.

The RC1 version has some new features, including a new theme that updates Firefox’s familiar interface; built in phishing protection; enhanced search engine management and search suggestions for Google, Yahoo!, and Answers.com; improved tab browsing, which includes the ability to re-open recently closed tabs; plus the ability to resume from where the user left-off after a system crash or browser restart.

Additionally, the new version offers better support for previewing and subscribing to Web feeds, and inline spell checking in Web forms.

Firefox 2 RC1 can be downloaded for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux in more than 40 languages.

No sooner than Microsoft launched its new application, “Private Folder 1.0,” for storing private data and protecting it with a password, the company has been forced to withdraw the application, following a deluge of complaints against it.

Microsoft has released a new application, “Private Folder 1.0,” meant for storing private documents and files, and protecting them with a password. According to Microsoft, Private Folder 1.0 hides data from the hard drive, and protects it with a password.

Google Moves From Search To Inventor

“The New York Times reports that Google continues to expand its scope from search engine to inventor. Google assembles the majority of the hardware it uses and deploys at such a large scale, that Google may be ‘the world’s fourth-largest maker of computer servers, after Dell, Hewlett-Packard and I.B.M.’. The article also states that Google may be entering the chip design market with new employees who were ex-Alpha Chip engineers.”
